When 2016 began, all of us at The Humane League had a singular goal: to reduce animal suffering.

With your support, we've been focusing relentlessly on eliminating cages for laying hens, abolishing the practice of culling male chicks and, most recently, addressing the worst abuses suffered by chickens raised for meat, who represent the vast majority of farmed animals in the US.

Together we are working to create the most meaningful change possible for billions of animals caught in a system that callously exploits them and pays virtually no attention to even their basic comfort and welfare.

And, things are changing. While we still have a lot of work ahead of us, we are happy to celebrate the real progress we've won for animals. During 2016, over 100 companies we targeted published policies to address farmed animal abuse.

So, as we look back on 2016, we're gratified to see how much has been accomplished, and we're excited to redouble our efforts in the new year toward continued, meaningful change.

100 is just the beginning!
